..Gymnasiums and sports..

Whenever I talk to my friends about the United States of America, they said America is the best place for sports. Actually, I did not realize that until I arrived in the United States. I found that most Americans really care about sport, unlike in my country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In America, every place you go you can find a gym close to your home. It is also cheap to become a member in the gym. In contrast, in Saudi Arabia, it is hard to find a gym close to your home; also, it will be expensive to become a member in the gym. Therefore, no one will be willing to go to the gym because it will be far away, and if not, the prices for being a member will be so expensive compared to the prices in America. In addition to that, American society has a diversity of sports. Americans already have four professional sports to choose: American football, baseball, basketball, and ice hockey. The first three sports of the four professional sports were invented in the United States. As a result of this diversity, everyone can easily find his or her interest. On the other hand, football or “soccer”, what Americans call football, is the only common sport in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, if you like another sport besides soccer, you will find a difficulty to find a place where you can learn or play this sport.
In conclusion, it will be great if you live in a society that cares about sports. Also, I hope that over the next few years we have many gyms and some sport diversity in my country.

..Transportation..

When I think of transportation in my country, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I noticed that we only have two kinds of transportation, which are cars and airplanes. I also perceived that each family owned at least two cars. Therefore, when I drive my car, I usually find many traffic jams and accidents; furthermore, your chance to be late will be high. Also, according to the statistics I found that 17 persons died every day because of traffic accidents, which made Saudi Arabia first in the world in traffic accidents. Moreover, one side effect of luck of diversity in transportation is that there will be no other choices to get to some place you want if you could not find a car or an airplane. In addition, another side effect is that you need to have enough money because you have to buy a car; thus, poor people usually can not have a car. On the other hand, when I moved to the United States of America, I see that there is diversity in transportation. As a result, you can get to any destination you want through several ways; you can use a car, a bike, a train, or you also can use a bus, in addition to airplanes. This diversity provides what works conveniently for you. Therefore, you do not need to be late or stuck with traffic jam. Also, having more than one kind of transportation allow is beneficial as everybody can use them. For instance, poor people who do not have money to buy a car can use the bus instead. In conclusion, I hope that next years we have diversity in transportation as what America has.

"Serve Yourself by Yourself"

When I decided to study in the United State of America instead of studying in my country, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I asked students who study abroad in the United States many questions. Surely, one of them was how is the food in the United States! They answered with no doubt saying that you will definitely miss your mom cooking and the serving, which you do have in restaurants in Saudi Arabia. As soon as I arrived to Austin, I noticed that although Austin is a kind of a small city comparing to others in the States, it has many different kinds of restaurants. However, in my country, we only have one kind of restaurants in terms of the serving method. As a result, looking over the eating habits in both countries, I can observe several differences between eating culture for both countries. I will mention two of them, which are home cooking vs. Fast Food and serving method in restaurants. Beginning in Saudi Arabia, we mostly eat from our home cooking because as a part of our culture women are usually do not have a job, so what they only have to do is taking care of home and cooking. In contrast, here in US most of the people eat outside home, and that it may because both of the men and the women are working; therefore, they do not have enough time to cook. Also, looking over the serving method in Saudi Arabia, we see that we do not need to clean our dish. On the other hand, in US we have to clean our own mess in most of the restaurants, so the American way in serving could be expressed by saying “serving yourself by yourself.” Actually, I liked that you serve yourself in US. I also liked that in my country we eat from home most of the time. Therefore, both eating cultures are having great aspects.
